Andy Hamilton's Blue Notes
Blue Notes will be remembering and playing the music of their founder, the celebrated Jamaican saxophonist and composer Andy Hamilton. They will be playing the music Andy loved to play, including as many of his own “Caribbean grooves” as they can fit in.
The Blue Note line up will feature Andy’s son in law and former member of the 80s punk band The Au Pair’s Paul Foad on guitar, Andy’s grandson and rising star Louis Hamilton Foad on drums, Fitzroy Coward on bass, Kirk Rickets on vocal, the highly talented Gabriel Amann on trumpet and his father Tim Amann on piano.
Based in Birmingham, The Blue Notes are a mainstay of the Silvershine Jazz Club, based in Bearwood, which Paul Foad and his wife Kim have run for a number of years, preserving Andy Hamilton’s music and legacy and providing opportunities for a variety of jazz artists of all ages from the area and beyond to perform, express and develop their talents.
