The Deltas play wild and frantic rockabilly, but unlike many other bands, they relate heavily to the blues idiom covering the likes of Doctor Ross, Slim Harpo, Lightnin’ Hopkins or Sonny Boy Williamson. If the Meteors created psychobilly by mistreating rockabilly music, The Deltas do the same to the blues.
Their diverse musical inspirations allows the band to span from dynamic jazzy compositions to all out psychotic rockabilly madness at its best over the course of a single set. Don’t show up thinking you know what you’ll get from The Deltas, they will pull the unexpected out of their hat when you least expect it and blow you away!
Delivering the soulful sounds of celebration and freedom with a backdrop of high energy, infectious African rhythms, soaring saxophone, searing guitar, killer bass lines, and the unique, breathtaking vocal talent of its founder and mentor, Thabani Nyoni.
The T Bone Afrika All Stars first appearance was a headline slot at the Kaya 2021 festival at Overstone Park, and they hit the ground running, further headlining the Northampton Music Festival world music stage two years running in ‘22 and ‘23, the Milton Keynes Africa Diaspora Festival in ‘22 and ‘23, and many other gigs, festivals and events, including wowing dignitaries at the South African Embassy in Trafalgar Square.
The spirit of The T Bone Afrika All Stars in a live situation is uncontainable, an explosion of raw, visceral energy. NO ONE leaves a T Bone show disappointed. This is JUMP UP….This is CELEBRATION….This is NOT to be missed.
Ryan Bachman's music can best be described as Nü Jazz, which takes elements of jazz, electronic, and hip-hop, and combines them in new and compelling ways.

Too Bad Jims got their name from the seminal Fat Possum album "Too Bad Jim" by the hugely influential blues musician RL Burnside. The band plays a gritty high-octane mix of North Mississippi Hill Country blues and boogie. It all initially started as a casual collaboration between two veteran and multiple award-winning musicians, Little Victor and Son Jack Jr. and they shortly after rounded out the trio with the one and only Nick Simonon (Brother to Paul Simonon of The Clash) on drums and things really started cookin’!
Their unique and unusual combination of dual rough and ready vocals, bare-bones electric guitars, slashing bottleneck, and a heavily rhythm-oriented groove, delivers a hypnotic, raw, and earthy sound typical of a North Mississippi juke joint.

UK Blues Awards 2024 UK Emerging Act of The Year nominee ‘Connolly Hayes’ comprises Jess Hayes, Frankie Connolly, Richard Clarke, Beau Barnard and Andy Wilder - five long-time friends playing a carefully curated blend of blues/rock/soul nationwide and beyond.

Gathering inspiration from band favourites, such as Bros Landreth, Tedeschi Trucks, Marcus King and Chris Stapleton (to name a few!), the group released their eagerly anticipated debut album earlier this year.

Dexter Shaw & The Wolftones
(with Big Creek Slim & Dawnette Fessey)
The Garibaldi LIVE is thrilled to be welcoming back Dexter Shaw and The Wolftones, with special guests Big Creek Slim and Dawnette Fessey.
Dexter is a veteran of the UK blues scene, playing old school blues rooted from the 40s/50s. Whether it be gritty Chicago blues, or uptown west coast style, his band nails it!
Dexter's vocals and guitar are engaging and authentic. He fronts a dynamite outfit, featuring Thomas Lucas on harp and keys, Francesca Shaw (his daughter) on double bass, and Loris Peverani on drums.
His unique sound is a product of a devoted man’s journey through the southern states of America, including Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana, combined with a life long love affair with the blues.
Dawnette Fessey (aka A No Good Woman) sings her blues sassy, swinging & soulful, from the Delta to Chicago, Bessie to BB King.... Big Momma to Little Walter. Dawnette's been singing ever since she can remember..... with a number of bands and musicians over the years. This gal knows what she’s about - sassy, strong, sexy, spicy & sweet, without apology. So when you come to hear her sing, you better be ready!

Esme Edwards (aka Female Bassist™) has played bass with most of Northampton, and further afield, performing in stadia and on TV (Billy Lockett etc). But Esmeralda is much more than just about playing bass. She's about a woman playing bass, if you get my drift. This is how she portrays herself, albeit slightly with tongue in cheek, so to speak:
"Esme is truly one of the bassists in Northampton. From performing in venues in locations to sitting in a chair, she's really got a bass. She's here to tell you that despite her womanly limitations, she's gonna have a really good go at it, and represent women in music by sharing a stage with Cis Het guys, playing bass-driven music written predominantly by men. What a wily character!"
Australian-born US-based Kara Grainger returns to the U.K. in September for a short run of dates, and The Garibaldi Live are delighted to welcome her back.
Currently based in Nashville, Kara is an international performing artist and has toured extensively throughout USA, Australia, Asia and Europe. Last year, she had another successful tour in Europe, playing shows in U.K., Austria, Switzerland and Czech Republic.
As on previous tours, Kara will be performing with her outstanding 3-piece organ trio, comprising Kara on guitar and vocals, Sam Montero on Hammond-style keyboard, and Toby Goodman on drums.
This is The Houserockers’ 25th year as a gigging band and sadly their last. Over the years they have played all the big weekenders that are out there, over 3,500 gigs in total! How many other bands have done that much?
As Sonny West once said, they have little to prove to anyone! The Houserockers have backed American artists too, recorded and released CDs, vinyl 45’s and LPs and been included in various compilations.
Founder Rob Glazebrook’s idea was always to form a band that played ‘real stuff’ but also covered many B sides as well. He has written many songs that have become popular in clubs up and down the country as well as abroad. However, he feels that it’s the right time to move on, so for this last chance to see The Houserockers in Northampton, better get yourself down to The Garibaldi.

Lee’s uncompromising and charismatic style now leads Midlands jazz collective, The Fourmasons and 2-Headed Deer recording artists, Ka Safar.
Dirk Griffin (bass) played baritone horn, tuba and double bass from his early years. Dirk’s music foundation was in orchestras and big bands through his education in Miami, and later with US Army bands whilst stationed in Germany. He has worked in music as both player and educator, and now makes his musical home on the Northamptonshire scene.

Grown in the swamps of the Midlands, this ragged troupe twang banjos, saw fiddles, and squeeze boxes belt out harmonies to keep the old tunes alive.
The Mudlands String Band deal mostly in Bluegrass & Cajun. But don’t expect anything fancy; these guys might have read a song in a dusty book, or learnt it from an old friend, or just heard it in a movie. And in true folk tradition, they’ll pass it on, mangled over the centuries, but with the spirit intact.
They make a good racket for sure, so be prepared for a rowdy affair, with plenty of good time raillery and joviality. You might even feel inclined to do a spot of dancing.

Don’t miss this return visit to The Garibaldi Live by Geraint Watkins and the Mosquitoes. For so many years a keystone of the bands of Nick Lowe, Van Morrison, Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings, Dave Edmunds and countless more, Geraint Watkins is also a revered creator of his own music.
Bob Dylan proclaimed himself a fan by playing two solo cuts on his Theme Time Radio Hour, saying (without a hint of irony) that “Geraint Watkins is my favourite English piano player.”

You don’t survive years a band named Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen without possessing a gleefully subversive funny bone. But for every injection of humour, there’s an equal dose of heart (and in some cases, heartbreak). A mere 50 years later, Kirchen is still having a blast twanging that guitar, to the delight of audiences everywhere.

Johnny The Fox
Johnny The Fox originally came together 22 years ago through a common love and appreciation for rock legend Thin Lizzy's music and that passion for the music still holds true today. If you like Thin Lizzy, this band won't dissapoint. Come celebrate Lizzy's legacy together.
The Tristan Mailliot Funk Quartet perform material by John Scofield, George Benson, Allan Holdsworth plus some original more groove based material. Expect some tight funky grooves mixed with plenty of jazz improvisation and melodic writing.

Chess Records was one of the most prominent of the independent labels in the USA that had a lasting influence on the world of blues music. Sadie Roach sings and plays piano with soulful understanding well beyond her years. From tear-jerking performances of jazz ballads like ‘Here’s To Life’ by Shirley Horn, to gritty, upbeat blues and soul, her unique tone is reminiscent of the late Nancy Wilson, or Dinah Washington, who performed and recorded with Sadie’s grandmother’s first cousin, Brook Benton.
Sadie’s sound has been honed over the years into what is now a unique, gritty soul/RnB sound, reviving and giving a fresh, modern take to the sounds of Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes and the sound that really defined the Black Power movement in the late 60s and early 70s.

Pigfoot
Pigfoot was formed by Loose Tubes trumpeter Chris Batchelor in order to focus on classic 1920’s New Orleans themes with an open and original improvised approach to the material. This resulted in the acclaimed 2014 CD ‘21st Century Acid Trad’
Specialising in “passing classic pop tunes through their multi-idiomatic mangle”. Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and the Supremes, have all been reworked with a mixture of “delicate poignancy and bumpy street-band nonchalance”. Which artist they’ll turn their attention to next is anyone’s guess, but you can be assured that you’ll be treated to some familiar pop songs reimagined as melodic jazz refrains and uninhibited conversational improvisations.
Pigfoot are four knowledgeable and very skilful contemporary jazz practitioners infectiously having a ball. As sought-after soloists with separate lives, they only rarely convene as Pigfoot. Therefore, their outing at The Garibaldi Live is an opportunity not to be missed.

This reflects the flexibility of the music and the musicians that wrote it.

One of our favourites is award-winning jazz vocalist & pianist Liane Carroll. Described by Jamie Callum as “"one of the greatest singers we have in this country”, Liane's return to The Garibaldi is always the most eagerly awaited.
Unfortunately, it may be some time before we see Liane Carroll at The Garibaldi again. Liane had a bad fall recently, and broke her arm in several places. As someone who is reliant on her performances to eek out a living as a professional musician, this incident is particularly devastating for her.
They say misfortune is virtue’s opportunity. Therefore, as a mark of appreciation for her stellar performances at The Garibaldi over the last few of years, The Garibaldi Live will be holding a fundraising event on 14th January, with all monies raised donated to Liane to help her through the recovery period.
You can be assured that this event will feature some of the best local musicians, with some very special guests.
