Kara Grainger

Australian-born US-based Kara Grainger returns to the U.K. in September for a short run of dates, and The Garibaldi Live are delighted to welcome her back.

Kara is a brilliant slide guitarist with an amazing voice - think Bonnie Raitt or Susan Tedeschi. If you are not already a member of her growing UK fan base, you must check her out.

Currently based in Nashville, Kara is an international performing artist and has toured extensively throughout USA, Australia, Asia and Europe. Last year, she had another successful tour in Europe, playing shows in U.K., Austria, Switzerland and Czech Republic.

As on previous tours, Kara will be performing with her outstanding 3-piece organ trio, comprising Kara on guitar and vocals, Sam Montero on Hammond-style keyboard, and drums (tbc).

With her classic song-writing skills, smooth sultry vocals, and the ability to whip up a storm with a fiery slide guitar, comparisons between Grainger and the likes of the great Bonnie Raitt, or Susan Tedeschi, are inevitably.

Like Raitt, Grainger knows how to get inside a song's lyric, placing her own indelible stamp on such classics as Robert Johnson’s “Come On In My Kitchen” and the Allman BrothersWhipping Post”. But Grainger is no throwback to the '70s rock scene. Although her inspiration is drawn from the same spring, there is a healthy dosage of 21st Century chic thrown in.

"Grainger’s voice is quite some instrument itself: technically formidable but equally comfortable expressing warmth, vulnerability, longing and pain .... and Living With Your Ghost is an enticing introduction to what looks to be a major talent."
