Kimmy & The Whahoo's
Kimmy And The Whahoo's are a blues band featuring high end musicians who make great music. The band has been together for over 8 years and play the blues with a passion and with a slight rock edge. The band was originally formed by Phil & Kimmy from the very successful Kim Marklew Band who had a top selling album Something Borrowed Something Blues. The set features material by artistes such as Greg Koch, Hamilton Loomis, Johnny Lang, to name just a few.
Kim Gowers, Lead Vocals and Guitar.
Kim has been a musician all her professional life; she started as a session singer and then formed her own band The Alison Marklew Band. The band were highly successful leading to being offered a recording deal with Pinnacle Records their single Midnight Rider made the charts, this was followed by support gigs for Thin Lizzy, Status Quo, UFO and Phil Collins.
Heath Laight. Drums & Percussion.
Heath Laight is very much the drummer’s drummer, absolutely rock solid and always inventive, he is the rock that holds everything together, he is a member of an elite group of drummers and is one of the go-to guys for session & recording work.
Simon ‘Rusty’ Seeney. Bass & Backing Vocals.
Simon ‘Rusty’ Seeney comes from a rock background and is a superb bass player, he and Heath have formed a solid ‘In the pocket’ rhythm section. He was a member of Birmingham based power three piece Pure Instinct. We feel privileged to have these players in the band.
Phil Gowers. Lead Guitar & backing Vocals.
Multi-instrumentalist Phil Gowers is the lead guitarist, his background has always been the blues, a Blackstar supported artist Phil has been a session player & was a member of bands such as the Open Road blues band and Heavy Weather and has appeared on stage with the Nashville Teens, Zoot Money, Albert Lee and Eric Clapton.
