Butcher's Brew

Ray Butcher is a jazz trumpeter who has played jazz with many of the greats from the UK scene. He’s worked with Dr John, Mica Paris and recorded a solo on the song ‘God’s Great Dance Floor’ from the US chart topping and GRAMMY nominated release by Chris TomlinBurning Lights’.

He is joined by a great band from the Birmingham area. Drummer Miles Levin, who studied at the Guildhall, is the the son of Tony Levin (Tubby Hayes). Tim Amann, who studied History at Cambridge, is a composer and leader himself, and has played with Art Farmer and David Murray, among others. Bassist Mike Green has performed with Jamie Cullum and is very much in demand around the midlands and beyond. Sam Rogers (sax) is an agile improviser and has worked with many influential musicians over a long period and brings a great warmth to the band.

The band plays jazz, funk, blue note, latin instrumental music. The band recently played at the 606 club in Chelsea.

Note: Tim, Ray and Sam performed a similar set on a couple of tours to Moscow and St Petersburg in 2007 and 2010 at the Union of Composers’ Club.
