Tristan Mailliot Funk Quartet

The Tristan Mailliot Funk Quartet perform material by John Scofield, George Benson, Allan Holdsworth plus some original more groove based material. Expect some tight funky grooves mixed with plenty of jazz improvisation and melodic writing.

TRISTAN MAILLIOT - DRUMS

Originally from France Tristan has been an in demand drummer and the UK jazz scene for 2 decades. Currently playing for the Jim Mullen organ trio, the Mick Foster quartet and the Jonathan Gee quartet, he also leads two of his own projects : one is the " Remembering Chick Corea" quartet dedicated to exploring the extensive repertoire of the late piano genius and the other is a contemporary band playing more groove based material the Loire funk Project. He has recorded with numerous leading artists including Jim Hart, Jim Mullen, Anita Wardell, Jacqui Hicks, John Critchinson, Ben Croft project.

MARK RIDOUT - GUITAR

Mark is an experienced guitarist having performed in many of the UK’s major jazz venues and festivals with such names as Jimmy Smith, Barbara Dennerlein, Tony Martin, Natalie Cole, Jane Monheit, Eddie Parker.He has appeared on albums for various jazz artists including Jacqui Hicks, Andrea Vicari, Stuart Curtis, Simon Thorpe’s Improphonics, Clive Fenner and also pop and rock albums. Also as a session guitarist Marks playing is featured on some computer and wii game soundtracks.Mark toured the US with Jazz funk band ‘Down to the Bone’ in 2001. He has performed on TV for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and with Alison Moyet on the ‘Lesley Garrett Show’ and is regularly to be heard on the radio in the BBC big band.

DAVE JONES - BASS

Dave has been active on the UK scene for many years on both double and electric bass, alongside many artists such as Juan Martin, Willard White, Jacqui Dankworth, BBC Big Band and the award winning Pete Cater Big Band. He was also bass player for the 'Ronnie Scott's Jazz and Soul Orchestra' featuring The Voice finalist and Eric Clapton band member Michelle John. He is an active composer for and leading his own projects such as 'Dave Jones' Nonet' and 'Funk Affinity' featuring soloists such as Roberto Pla, Tim Whitehead, Tony Woods, Henry Lowther, John Turville, Maciek Pysz. His main project for 2024 is a 40 date UK tour with the Joni Mitchell tribute project "Hejira".

MATT CARTER - KEYBOARD

Matt studied jazz piano at The Royal Academy of Music and is a rising star of the UK jazz scene . He runs his own jazz octet, and in July 2023, released his debut album ‘Read Between The Lines.’ The band features some of the most exciting talents on the UK jazz scene and was given a four star review by Jazzwise. He is also very much in demand in the highest echelons of pop music and currently tours with ‘Wet Wet Wet’. Hi ghlights from 2022 included supporting The Corrs in Australia and playing at festivals in Denmark, as well as all over the UK. Matt has also performed with soul singers Joss Stone, Mica Paris, Beverley Knight and Angelo Starr. Highlights with Joss Stone included a TV performance on the Alan Titchmarsh Show and a performance at European Parliament in Brussels. He also recorded a duet with Joss on the track ‘Free Me 2017,’ which was recorded for UBS for international women’s day.
